To mobilize Yakima's churches, businesses, agencies, and other groups, to help the homeless, hungry, victimized and oppressed within our community.
The early stages of this program have been in the form of extreme winter weather shelters from a collaborative effort with a number of Yakima churches and agencies with Sunrise Outreach contracted under the Homeless Network of Yakima to manage the project.
Upcoming plans will move to three separate programs.

Participation in the Supportive Housing Institute from the consulting and funding collaboration of Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH), Common Ground, Washington Families Fund, and others. This will run January through September of 2009 and will help us launch our first housing project.
This ministry has served as many as 700 weekly individual and family food allotments per month. We want to further expand this ministry to include those shut-ins otherwise unable to help themselves. Shut-ins currently represent about a third of our monthly allotments. This ministry will also include a county wide HMIS database to right-size weekly household allotments to proportionately meet the need while expanding the number of allocations.
This is an outreach program targeting youth seeking alternative support and mentoring services. These are the kids on the fringe who are either being oppressed by gang memebers or kids that are trying to get out of a gang and need some help. We will provide programs aimed at educational assistance, the arts, and job skill development.
